再去香港，找本地人带路，找好吃的；

去日本住个一年半载；

昨天去看了赤壁，全球放映，把两部缩成一部，情节什么的都很不完整，外国观众要不是对中国文化有很深 的了解，多半只能看看热闹。总的说来演员都还不错，场面也还可以（CGI有些假），很多战争场面象指环王。当然吴导的招牌白鸽是少不了。在这里想写几句，主要是要揭露一下赤壁里 的雷人台词，真的很雷人，让人不吐不快。

No 1, 结尾处诸葛亮回家种田，与周瑜告别，超大特写，两人面对面，双目传情，周郎说了几句，依依难舍，诸葛亮回应， "亮， 也不会忘记", 颇有断背嫌疑。

No 2, 仗打到最后，曹操大败，被东吴一群人围住，对持之时，关羽蹦出一句， "你已经过时了"，偶当场笑倒。换成或是"你大势已去"，或是"你气数已尽"，都恰当，难道编剧的中文修养还不如我？

No 3, 小乔去敌营拖延战机，和曹操品茶论道，又假做娇休，曹操来了句"----别闹---"（注意是说 的语气）。可怜张丰毅一把年纪的人了，说这样嗲的太词，不知NG几十次.

No 4, 马丁路得金一定是受了周瑜的 影响，因为人家一千久百多年前就说过， "我有一个梦想".

No 5, 小乔数落老曹，说你年轻时也是"有追求，有道德，有正义感的".

More and more people in our society have chosen to become a vegetarian. Some go even further to avoid not only eating meat, poultry and fish but any product that is obtained by exploiting animals, such as diary products and eggs. While there could be various reasons to adopt this way of life, the main ones are usually related to ethical and personal health concerns.

Indeed, it is natural and just that anyone who has seen pictures of battery hens and other horrors that reveal the cruelty involved in intensive farming should raise concerns about the ethics of consuming meat. A common practice of intensive farming is confinement of domestic animals at high density and consequently, high concentration of antibiotics and pesticides are required to mitigate the spread of diseases in such a crowded living condition. Not surprisingly these practices have made the quality of meat worse. In the past decades, there have been several outbreaks of infectious diseases that can spread from animals to human, from BSE or Mad Cow Disease as it is commonly known, to SARS and bird flu and very recently swine flu. As well as all the food scares, there has also been increasing evidence indicating the link between excessive consumption of meat, in particular red meat, and high cholestoral, high blood pressure and various other threats to our health.

          Are these cons of eating meat sufficient reasons for us all to turn vegetarian? I think not. First of all, meat has been an important part of our diet for thousands of years. Red meat is a major source of protein and iron and fish is high in omega-3 fatty acids which has many benefits to our heath, such as reducing the risk of heart attack. In addition, many scientific studies have concluded that humans are natural omnivores based on anatomic and physiological evidence. The key to maintaining our health does not simply lie in not eating meat but very much depends on a well balanced diet and an active life style.

          Secondly, factory farming which has been critised by some as disregarding the welfare of animals is the direct consequence of mass demand. With 5 billion people to feed on the planet, we simply cann’t go back to traditional farming methods. However, by careful regulation and more importantly, demand from consumers of meat produced under higher welfare standards, well-managed free-range farms will be more competitive commerially, the increasing number of those would improve the living conditions of aminals substantially.

Killing animals for human consumption is always of certain controversy. Like many things with moral ambiguity, we should try to strike a balance between principal and inclination when dealing with the debate about the ethical issues regarding the consumption of meat. However, I firmly believe that there ought to come a time in the future when new methods of food production will be invented with the development of technology and when the killing of animals will be stopped.

昨天终于看了前一阵子很火的投名状，很激动，不是因为电影真的达到了让人激荡心扉的火候，而是这几年看过太多金玉其外败絮其中的国产电影 (满城尽带黄金甲，无极，夜宴等等)，拖沓苍白，不伦不类，过于追求形式，让观众形如嚼蜡，视觉疲劳。陈可辛的四千万美元大制作多少让人看到进步，在追求好莱坞式商业成功模式上的一点进步，其一，对白基本没让我作呕 (相对英雄中的蜡笔小新) ，其二，几个战场大场面处理的恰当 (对比无极中的野牛奔跑) ，其三，主题是有中国传统文化根基的兄弟结拜 (相应夜宴的哈姆雷特式宫廷权力争斗) 。主角李连杰，刘德华和金城武皆可，可谓无功无过。几个配角，让人印象深刻。搜了一下，没有找到那个兄弟三人投清军后第一场战中的那个太平军将领的名字，不过找到那个为保手下和全城百姓性命而牺牲自己的太平军苏州守将 (切以为此角色有对石达开的影射)的演员的名字，郭晓冬，大概出场只有5分钟，但算是光彩四溢。后来百度一番，发现这个郭晓东这两年风头很劲，是自己窝居岛国，孤陋寡闻了。

Watched “Waltz with Bashir” over the weekend, a film about the Sabra and Shatila massacre in 1982 from the point of view of Israeli soldiers. It is an animated documentary, a rare genre that presents a documentary film by the means of animation.

It starts with the central character Ari Folman, the director himself, meeting an old friend from the army service period who was tormented by the image of 26 rampaging dogs in his sleep. These recurring nightmares are connected to his experience as a soldier during the 1982 Lebanon war. To Folman's surprise, he does not remember a thing from the same period after 20 years. So, he sets off to meet his old soldier friends who were with him in Beirut at the same time to uncover his lost memory. His conversations with these friends. a psychologist and a journalist who was at Beirut to report the war are used in the film while the animation is generated based on their images.

The visuals of the film are striking and poignant, and the music, both rock and classic, adds a huge amount of emotional impact. There is a scene showing finest Arabian horses roaring and dying painfully in the hippodrome and the other showing Palestinian children as young as five being shot. They are gut-wrenching.

However, as much as the film being about the Sabra and Shatila massacre (the killings of Palestinian civilians in refugee camps by Lebanese Phalangist militia to take revenge on the assassination of their leader Bashir Gemayel) and what role the Israeli army played during the massacre, it is also about the traumatised souls of the young Israeli soldiers and how war can effect everyone involved--- it left permanent mental scars on Folman and his soldier friends. Animation is, in this sense, a great choice to make the film. It allows the director to mix surreal dreams and fragmented memories with real life incidents, without which the film wouldn't have been so powerful.

I walked out of the cinema, feeling beyond depressed. But in truth, having lived my life without anything truly tragic (lucky me), I would never be able to imagine the amount of pain one experiences in a war. Nevertheless, we have all been there before, like Folman more or less, effectively repressing certain memories to dissociate us from the painful or traumatic time in life. If there is indeed a way like in the film “the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind” to erase our memory of someone or something, many of us would undoubtedly go for it. But are we really willing to lose the lessons we learned in the hard way with the loss of that memory? Aren't our memories and us in other people's memories the definition of our life? Erasing painful memories is the easy way while it takes much more courage to face them and move on.

经过一个多月的搜索和三番五次的骚扰电话，终于找到一家接收NHS病人的牙科诊所。说起来英国的医疗制度，虽然常遭批评，其实还是不错的。NHS是National Health Service的简称 (全民健康服务) ，二战后Attlee领导的工党政府建立起来的，提供免费医疗。一般说来，只要是在英格兰住，不管本国人，外国人，都可以一分钱不花，免费看病。不过在牙医这一块儿，不知为什么，完全免费的治疗好像只提供给18岁以下的小孩儿，成年人是要付一定费用的。当然这个费用又比去私人牙科便宜得多。举个例子，我家附近的高级私人牙科，一般的检查，照个X-ray就要70大洋，要是补个牙就得交上150到200大洋，更复杂的，譬如种牙之类的我没问，想必是要上500大洋的。如果是NHS的牙科，只有三个收费档次，15块一般的检查加清洗，44块补牙，190块其它复杂的治疗。所以能找到接受新病人的NHS牙科诊所是至关重要地，却也是相当艰难地。同事们听说我竟然挤进NHS牙科，惊讶之情不亚于我中了Lotto。

牙的问题很小，照了X-ray，一颗大牙上有个小洞，也不是很深，要补上。以前只听说拔牙要局麻，没成想补牙这样的问题也是要局麻的。扎了麻药，等上10分钟，然后先是用钻头把腐蚀的部分喀嚓掉，再填上filling, 反正基本步骤是哪都一样的。后来和my dentist感叹要是自己十岁起就开始像现在这样保护牙齿，刷牙，牙线，漱口水一样不少，那现在就什么问题都不会有了。

因为扎了麻药，整个下半边脸都失去了知觉。说话马上不利索了，特别是发譬如anaesthetic中的th音，因为感觉不到舌头和嘴唇的形状和位置。中午吃饭，喝汤喝到下巴上也不知道，还必须放慢咀嚼速度，要不然牙把舌头咬了都恍然不知。现在终于理解那些中风后面部麻痹的人为什么口吃不清，也理解为什么人老了吃饭会边吃边掉。大约4个小时后，局麻的作用完全消失，自己又回复正常，深深的感叹年轻真好，健康太重要。

当年自己高考时作文的题目是什么不记得了, 不过不想也知道自己写下来的一定是牵强附会的应景之作。偶然在网上看到今年高考的作文题，经过和昊哥讨论，觉得其中两个很有特色，有相当的发挥空间，所以想再写一次高考作文。没有时间限制，没有评分压力，而且多了十年的生活阅历，看看现在的自己到底能写出什么样的文章来。我把文题写下来，希望来我blog的同学们踊跃参与，可以二选一，或者两个都选，也发在自己的blog上。
